"Mixing pleasure with business"

A Touch of Tuscany, formal entertaining areas and a professional office space are some of the factors which drew this home's current owners. Annette Ibbitson bought the home in June 2005.

Her husband John Ibbitson said the home had been well suited as a place from which to run their business. "Because I work from home I have a lot of dignitaries call in" he said. "You need the Formal Dining and Living area, but also a good office."  The views from the office would be one of the main features. You look can look out the window to the Coomera River and see all the nice boats come out there on the weekend, everything from ski boats to 120'ers.

Position with the Coomera River across the road, a canal at the back and the Park to the side, location played a big part in the Ibbitson's decision to buy the home.

The house is the work of local builder Martin Fiebig and won the 1996 HIA Home of the Year Award.

Mr. Ibbitson said "the quality of the design was evident. Its a little bit different having a Tuscany look to it, more than your standard house" he said.  It's got a character of all its own. You can play it down and have family outings or do the reverse and be completely formal. He said they were selling the residence to move to a larger double block of land on the Coomera River, but would remain on Hope Island.

Glossy, light blue, Italian ceramic tiles were especially imported for the home, and Mr. Ibbitson said they gave the house  "Romanesque" look.

Next to the entrance is the study, which has lime wash timber cupboards and a window which overlooks the Coomera River . A sunken Living area includes a Formal Lounge Room and Dining Room, which has an atrium as a feature creating a peaceful feel. The Kitchen has a curving Granite bench, a two-pack finish, gas cooking, a walk-in pantry with a wine cellar, and timber shutters over a granite bar which opens out to the Formal Dining area. 

Opening off the kitchen is a informal dining area which looks at the atruim, a bar with granite bench tops and a family room. Down stairs is a ensuited bedroom which is currently set up as another office. Upstairs is centred on a Living room, which has views of a sparkling canal at the back and the river at the front. At the front of the house are two bedrooms, both with built-in wardrobes and windows which give an outlook to the river. Another ensuited bedroom with built-in wardrobe is at the back of the house and has clear views of the canal through picture windows along one wall.

In the Master Bedroom is an ensuite with a spa, large walk- in robe, the Master bedroom includes a living area and has a balconey overlooking the canal.

Features such as four step cornices, granite benchtops in the 5 bathrooms and ducted airconditioning add to the elegence.

The alfreso area is sectioned off by 3 imposing columns. Lush tropical trees planted by the pool create a relaxed feel and manicured hedges line the path from the pool to the pontoon which can take up to a 18 metre boat.
